Volvo Escape the City Pop-up Studios relax locals and showcase the new XC60
Volvo are building ‘Escape the City’ pop-up studios in London, Edinburgh and Manchester offering relaxation and a look at the new XC60.
The Swedes have a certain way of relaxing, which often includes very hot wood cabins, no clothes and very cold after effects. So when Volvo told us they were setting up ‘Escape the City’ pop-up studios in London, Manchester and Edinburgh to help relax the locals, we had visions of naked Volvo lovers escaping hot boxes in our major cities to dive headlong in to a river. Thankfully, our imaginings are a bit wide of the mark
Volvo’s plan is to offer a selection of complimentary 30-minute sessions of Yoga, massage and meditation. And it seems, in deference to the different local sensibilities, you won’t have to get naked. Which is probably just as well.
Of course, this isn’t just Volvo altruism, but an opportunity to showcase the new Volvo XC60 as you have your back rubbed, your brain soothed and your body flexed.
The pop-up relaxation studios will be on Edinburgh’s Castle Street from 18-21 April, Manchester’s Spinningfields from 24-30 April and London’s Canary Wharf from 2-5 May from 07:00 to 19:00. And it’s free. Volvo are even throwing in free loan bicycles in case you’re so invigorated by the pampering you want to see the city.
Jon Wakefield, Volvo’s UK MD, said:
As a human-centric company, we want to reinforce the importance of taking time out of our busy schedules. Much like the interior of the new Volvo XC60, our pop-up studio will provide people with a calm, relaxing space to escape the rigours of city life.
Volvo’s link between the new XC60 and all this feelgood pampering is the relaxing, welcoming and pampering both offer, and it’s a novel way to garner interest.
If you’re up for a bit of Swedish pampering courtesy of Volvo, you can register interest on Volvo’s site.
