Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 - now up for grabs in the UK

We’re big fans of the Peugeot 3008, even if we’re not the biggest fans of hybrids. But, as hybrids go, the Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 does seem to offer the best of all worlds.
Instead of being a hybrid car designed to polish the green halo of owners, the 3008 HYbrid is, first and foremost, perhaps the best of the mid-sized crossovers.
We reviewed the regular 3008 last year – and not a range-topping 3008 either – and found it to be clever, roomy and, above all, a really good drive. So much so, more than one or two have bought a 3008 on the back of our recommendation.
The hybrid 3008 HYbrid4 turns on the 3008’s eco-halo with a very convincing, world-first, diesel hybrid setup offering 4WD and a combined 200bhp from its 163bhp diesel lump and 37bhp electric motor.
That translates in to a 0-60mph under 9 seconds, top speed of 118mph and up to 74.3mpg. Opt for the entry-level model and you’ll also get 99g/km emissions, meaning no Congestion Charge and no VED – never mind the appealing BIK figures.
We’re sure Peugeot will manage to drag the better equipped 3008 HYbrid4s with bigger wheels in to the sub-100g/km category in time (17″ alloys up emissions to 104g/km and 18″ to 108g/km) so for now, if you want the benefit of always-free VED and no lining Boris’s pocket, then you’ll need to opt for the £26,995 HYbrid4 99g (yep, that’s its catchy little moniker – we’ll leave you to guess the others).
But even the 99g comes with a decent spec including Climate, Bluetooth, CD and MP3, Cruise, auto lights and wipers and parking sensors (full specs below).
All of which means you can take full advantage of all the daft tax breaks for sub-99g/km cars and not have to wear a hair shirt, or lose the joy of driving, to keep your motoring costs in check.
Which all sounds quite appealing.

Not much more than a Prius and with all the same green credentials, but instead of being a compromise the 3008 Hybrid 4 looks like it’s a great car. I know who’d get my money.
