Renault Captur compact SUV prices revealed - costs from £12,495

Renault has revealed that the Clio-based Renault Captur – a small urban crossover / SUV – will cost from £12,495 in the UK.

Renault turned up at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011 with the Captur Concept, a Juke-like urban crossover that looked like it could offer real competition to it Nissan cousin’s funky urban warrior.

But by the time Renault had run their Captur Concept through the inevitable watering down concepts from mainstream car makers suffer, it turned in to a Clio with rufty-tufty bits and a higher ride height. Enter the production version of the Renault Captur at the start of 2013 and its subsequent debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

Now Renault has revealed prices for the Captur, and its costs from £12,495 for the entry-level Expression trim with the TCe 90 engine, rising to £18,895 for the Dynamique S Media Nav with the dCi 90 engine and auto ‘box. That makes the Capture £2k cheaper than the entry-level Juke, and £1k cheaper when you compare the diesel entry-level models.

Trim levels start with the Expression trim that offers 16″ alloys, Cruise, body coloured bumpers, electric windows and Hill Start, with the Expression+ adding fogs, auto lights and wipers, Climate and body coloured door mirrors.

The model Renault expect to be the best seller in the UK is the Capture Dynamique MediaNav which gets zipped seat covers (so you can take them off to wash), chrome Colour Pack, MediaNav – which includes 7″ colour touchscreen SatNav, Bluetooth and USB – cornering lights and a leather steering wheel and gear knob.

Move up to the range-topping Capture Dynamique S MediaNav and you get electric folding door mirrors, parking sensors, heated seats, contrasting roof and door mirrors, extra tinted windows and 17″ coloured alloys.

But the standard trim levels are just the starting point, with Renault looking to up-sell in a big way with a wide range of options and customising add-ons including R-Link (£450), Reversing Camera (£350), City Pack (£250), Exterior Gloss Pack (350), Interior Touch Pack £350), Colour PAck (£550) and on, and on…

Engine choices are the the o.9 litre TCe 90, 1.4 dCi 90 and the new 1.2 TCe 120 which gets the EDC ‘box.

The new Renault Capture order book opens on 1st May with first cars in Renault’s UK dealers on 1st July.
