The Renault Twingo GT (pictured) debuts at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed
The Renault Twingo GT has been revealed as a more powerful take on the Twingo, boasting 108bhp and sporty tweaks. Debuts at Goodwood FoS.
The Renault Twingo GT has been revealed before it heads for a debut at the Goodwoood Festival of Speed later this month, and it looks like it could be a proper hoot.Renault has boosted the power of the Twingo’s 898cc three-cylinder engine to deliver 108bhp and 125lb/ft of torque by tweaking the Twingo’s brain and revising the air intake, as well as new gearbox ratios for increased response.
To go with the extra power, Renault has also tweaked the suspension, with new ESP calibration and variable rate steering which, say Renault, delivers sharp handling and responsive steering.
It’s a promising set-up for the rear-wheel drive Twingo, promising to deliver the sort of pocket-rocket delivery that’s so much fun on urban roads.
To go with the power and performance makeover, Renault has given the Twingo GT 17″ alloys, twin exhausts, an orange paint job and lowered ride height, and if the orange paint job doesn’t float your boat you can also have it in Lunar Grey, Diamond Black or Crystal White.
The Twingo GT will make its UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month, but won’t go on sale until the end of the year. Expect prices somewhere around the £15k mark.
