The Renault Zoe EV will be delivering free Christmas batteries in London
Renault are using the ZOE EV to deliver free batteries to anyone in London who has forgotten to buy batteries for their Christmas gifts.
It’s the same every Christmas as every household in the country tries to find batteries for the gifts they bought which came without the necessary pack of Duracells. The annual ritual of cannibalising batteries from remotes and clocks – and anything you can do without for a while – so the kids can enjoy their toys, is enough to drive you mad.
But this year – as long as you live inside the M25 in London – Renault will come to your rescue with a free battery delivery so everyone can enjoy their gifts.
On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, all Londoners need to do is Tweet #SOSBattery to the @RenaultUK Twitter account and Renault will despatch a driver in a Renault ZOE EV with a stock of batteries. And it’s all free.
Of course, this isn’t entirely altruistic, but a way to promote the Renault ZOE as the perfect electric car for cities, with its real-world range of around 150 miles and ability to take an 80 per cent charge in an hour.
Renault say battery stocks are ‘limited’, and we have no idea whether they plan to deliver hundreds, thousands or tens of thousands of batteries.
But if you are in London, and you are stuck for batteries, an #SOSBattery Tweet to Renault could be a Christmas life saver.
