Alpine A120 Premier Edition goes on sale
Renault-owned Alpine reveal a camouflaged version of what we assume will be the new Alpine A120 as a Premier Edition goes on sale for £50k.
When the car we assume will be the new Alpine A120 failed to debut at the Paris Motor Show as expected, Renault did say that despite being on the Paris missing list it would debut before the end of 2016. Sop perhaps this is it?Announcing the opening of reservations for the Alpine (which still hasn’t had the A120 moniker confirmed), Renault has revealed an image showing the production car, albeit with blue and white swirly camouflage.
What we do know is that you can grab a new Alpine by jumping over to www.alpinecars.com, where buyers from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK can place orders.
There’s not yet a price other than a Euro one – which is between £55k and £60k – but that suggest the Alpine will cost around £50k, and early buyers can opt for one of 1,955 Premier Editions (1955 is the year Alpine was founded).
For that you will effectively get Renault’s Alpine take on the Alfa Romeo 4C, offering a low weight and modest power delivering great fun and great performance.
That performance is confirmed as 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds, and although the engine that powers that performance hasn’t been confirmed it does seem likely it will be a 1.8 litre version of the 1.6 litre turbo found in the Clio RS, and delivering 250bhp (or more).
