Skoda Octavia vRS 245 heading for Geneva
The Skoda Octavia vRS 245 will debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month – as a hatchback and estate -as the fastest Octavia yet.
The extra 15 PS, giving the vRS 245 its name and a total of 242bhp, from the 2.0 litre TSI turbo four-cylinder is enough to get the vRS 245 to 62mph in 6.6 seconds and on to a limited 155mph, with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox available.
Skoda has also had a play with the vRS’s setup beyond tweaking the engine for a bit more go, with suspension sitting 14mm lower and a rear track widened by 38mm.
Dynamic Chassis Control as an option may be a bit over the top for the relatively modest performance, especially as you get an electronic limited slip diff in the price and a sport mode too, but its presence shows Skoda’s performance intent with the new vRS.
Looks are the latest Octavia’s facelift with some specific sporty additions, including big alloys, gloss black grill, honeycomb mesh on the bumper’s air intakes, LED lights, rear spoiler and black tailpipes and mirrors.
Inside, the vRS 245 gets the same basic interior as the recently facelifted models along with black Alcantara sports seats, aluminium pedals, vRS logos and ambient LED lights.
Technology and safety systems abound, with Trailer Assist, Predictive Pedestrian Protection as part of Front Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Traffic Alert, Manoeuvre Assist and Crew Protect Assist all standard.
Available as either a hatchback or estate, the new Skoda Octavia vRS 245 will debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. No prices for the UK yet, but they should arrive by the time Geneva comes around.
