CPP Manufacturing Ltd (Coventry Prototype Panels) are to buy Spyker in a deal worth €32 million
Well, we didn’t see that coming. CPP are buying Spyker.
We’re big fans of CPP (Coventry Prototype Panels) and their immense skill set, not just in putting together some of the most beautiful cars in the world, but creating some of the most beautiful objects too.
For years they’ve been a hidden gem, quietly and anonymously building cars we all lust after. Cars for manufacturers like Bentley who want a one-off for a motor shows. Cars like the Zagatos you’d reasonably think had been put together by Zagato.
More recently, it’s CPP to thank for the Aston Martin One-77 (every one is being built at CPP) and Spyker, where CPP has been making the cars from the beginning. Yes, they got shipped back to Holland to be bolted together in Holland from CKD at first, but since last year CPP have been building Spykers in the Midlands.
And now CPP are to buy Spyker – with the help of Vladimir Antonov, the recently exonerated ‘Red under the Bed’ – in a deal worth €32 million, of which €15 million will be paid straight away and the rest over a six year ‘Earn Out’ period.
This is good news for Spyker the brand, and for CPP. Congratulations to Brendan O’Toole and all the team.
We’re off to ferret around for more information.
