Subaru has revealed a new Impreza – the WRX STI Carbon – with carbon roof, suede trim and a five-speed automatic.
On more of the ‘What’s coming to Tokyo’ theme that’s starting to crop up, we have news of the Subaru WRX STI Carbon. Which sounds very promising. A slimmed-down carbon-clad version of the WRX STI sounds very appealing. Less weight equals more power. Good news. Well…The Impreza WRX STI Carbon does make use of carbon. For the roof. That’s it. No carbon body panels. No big reduction in weight. In fact this Subarua seems to be about making the car less appealing, not more. Subaru are trimming the inside of the WRX STI Carbon in suede. How sporty. They could have gone the whole hog and given it suede patches. And thrown in a pipe and slippers for good measure.
And in a sense that’s exactly what Subaru has done. They’ve made the WRX STI Carbon an automatic. Yep, this new, exciting-sounding Subaru gets a slush-box. From the Legacy. Subaru says it brings “a distinctive driving pleasure to a wider range of customers”. So that means people who wouldn’t normally look at a Subaru WRX STI, we assume.
So that’s it. The new Subaru Impreza Pipe & Slippers. Tow bar optional.
