The Infiniti QX30, Infiniti’s high-riding Crossover take on the Q30, has been revealed at the 2015 Los Angeles Motor Show. Arrives UK mid-2016.
The Infiniti QX30 arrived earlier this year as a concept, but now we get the production take on Infiniti’s crossover version of the Q30 revealed at the Los Angeles Motor Show. Not much has changed between the QX30 Concept and the production car, and it’s pretty much Q30 under the skin too, but with raised ride heigh (up by 30mm), a few bits of butch plastic to make it look more purposeful, skid plates and roof rails.
Under the skin it’s petty much pure GLA, but the QX30 does come with just a four-wheel drive powertrain, using a Haldex clutch to utilise the 4WD only when needed. And as the QX30 is coming with 4WD it looks like the only engines on offer are going to be the 168bhp 2.2 litre diesel and 208bhp 2.0 litre petrol.
Roland Krueger, Infiniti President, said:
The QX30 active crossover is joining our new premium compact family at the right time and will broaden our offer to new customers around the world. With our recent sales successes and record growth, the current product offensive will further strengthen Infiniti’s global market position.
Infiniti are taking aim at cars like the BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA with the QX30, but as it’s pretty much a GLA with an Infiniti body, buyers will choose which floats their boat most. But the vast majority are going to plump for the Mercedes.
The new Infiniti QX30 Crossover is expected to go on sale in the UK in summer 2016, with prices likely to start around £28,000.
