Jeremy chose the Ferrari 488 GTB (r) for his last Top Gear lap – not the AMG GT S (l) or La Ferrari
Jeremy Clarkson has driven his last lap of the Top Gear Track at Dunsfold in the new Ferrari 488 GTB, raising £100k for The Roundhouse in Camden in the process.
A few months ago – when the brouhaha around Jeremy Clarkson’s ‘fracas’ was everywhere, but before the BBC actually ended JC’s contract – Clarkson offered to take two bidders round the Top Gear track during a Gala event at The Roundhouse in Camden. And this week it came to pass that Jeremy Clarkson’s last Top Gear lap happened, with the face of Top Gear Tweeting a photo of himself with the new Mercedes AMG GT S, LaFerrari and Ferrari GTB before the event, asking which he should take.
In the end, Jeremy decided the 488 GTB was the car to take – Tweeting later that he “…did the motherfucker of all tail slides through Chicago” – despite the availability of the LaFerrari and AMG.
In the process of a final morning of play, Jeremy’s TG lap raised £100,000 from the well-heeled bidders, money that The Camden Roundhouse will spend on providing support for 11-25 year-olds to realise their music potential.
But even if Jeremy chose the 488 GTB, it didn’t mean the £50k bidders lost out on time with the LaFerrari – a LaFerrari actually owned by Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason, who was on-hand with Clarkson – as Nick made his car available for them to experience.
Doubtless Jeremy will report more in the Sunday Times this weekend, and don’t bet against a final Top Gear lap video making an appearance either.
