Top Gear RETURNS to BBC 2 tonight (17 February 2019)
Top Gear returns to BBC2 tonight for the last series with Matt LeBlanc, featuring Ferrari, Porsche, Suzuki, Fiat and X-Men star James Marsden is SIARFC.
Just as Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid have gelled together as a cohesive and appealing trio of Top Gear hosts, it’s all about to change as LeBlanc leaves, Reid is displaced and Chris Harris joins Freddie Flintoff and Paddy McGuinness for the next series. But we do get a farewell run of five episodes with LeBlanc, Harris and Reid – Series 26 – before it’s all change again, and it starts on BBC2 tonight.
The fare on offer follows a familiar theme, with LeBlanc and Harris tasked to find the best estate car there is, although, as this is Top Gear, the choices aren’t exactly mainstream.
We have the usual ‘The Producers Say’ intro which proclaims the Skoda Octavia Estate is the best buy, but LeBlanc and Harris opt for the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso and Porsche Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo, arguing both have boots, back seats and four-wheel drive so they count. Norway is the location for the head-to-head Ferrari vs Porsche challenge.
Elsewhere, Rory Reid and Sabine Schmitz (yes, she’s still around) build a new mountain to pit the Suzuki Ignis 4×4 against the Fiat Panda Cross.
There’s also the return of a Star In a Reasonably Fast Car, and here we see X-Men star James Marsden showing if he’s any good behind the wheel.
Top Gear Series 26 Epsiode 1 is on BBC2 at 8pm (UK time) 17 February 2019.
