Top Gear Series 26 Episode 2 – the Tuk-Tuk Challenge
Top Gear returns tonight for episode two of series 26, with the BMW M5, Mercedes-AMG E63, Tuk-Tuks and Preofessor Green is SIARFC.
Top Gear returned last week for the first episode of series 26, the last with the current line-up, and felt familiar; perhaps just a bit too familiar. It’s understandable that the Beeb want to keep the familiar format, but the format is so ingrained with Clarkson, Hammond and May that it always begs comparison. And not always positive comparison.
Still, there’s clearly a friendship between LeBlanc and Harris and that saves the show, and they’re back for more with episode two of the latest series tonight.
Chris Harris gets to play with the new BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG E63, with a proclamation that it would be cheaper to give everyone in Manchester a new M5 or AMG E63 to get to London (as long as they could ignore speed limits) than it will be to build the HS2 rail line. Sounds like a plan.
The adventure outing this week is Chris Harris and Matt LeBlanc taking Asia’s favourite mode of transport – the Tuk-Tuk – on a road trip across Sri Lanka, including a race across a tea plantation, a Tuk-Tuk polo match, dodgy mountain tracks and crossing an ocean by bridge.
Professor Green (aka Stephen Manderson) takes his turn as a Star in a Reasonably Fast Car.
Top Gear Series 26 Episode 2 is on BBC2 at 8pm tonight.
