Volvo S60 R-Design Edition
The new Volvo S60 saloon goes on sale in the UK, starting with a high spec S60 R-Design Edition costing from £37,920.
The new Volvo S60 was officially revealed nine months ago in Inscription and R-Design versions (and Polestar too), but despite that you’ve still not been able to buy a new S60 in the UK.But, finally, Volvo has opened up UK sales for the S60, although the only option you will have to start with is a high-spec sport First Edition model – the Volvo S60 T5 R-Design Edition.
With no diesel engine options available for the new S60, a petrol engine is the default, and with UK buyers loving Volvo’s R-Design trim it’s a sensible starting point.
As you’d expect from an R-Design Edition model – Volvo’s ‘Sporty’ trim – it comes with lowered suspension and a set of statement 19″ alloys, with sports seats (heated) in Nappa leather and cloth and some metal mesh interior trim to emphasise the sport bit.
Standard kit includes Volvo’s Sensus with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, HUD, rear-view camera, parking sensors, heated steering wheel and Harmon Kardon Sound. Safety stuff in the R-Design Edition includes Pilot Assist, BLIS, Cross Traffic and Rear Collision Mitigation.
The single engine option is Volvo’s T5 petrol with 247bhp putting power to teh front wheels through an eight-speed auto ‘box, promising 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and official economy of 35-40mpg.
If you want an R-Design Edition model you can have one delivered by May, but if you want any other model – and 4WD – you’ll have to wait a bit.
