Volvo S60 Polestar Performance World Champion Edition
Volvo celebrates its WTCC Polestar win with the Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar Performance World Champion Editions as an ‘add on’ to an S60 or V60.
All the Polestar news may be about Volvo’s performance brand delivering the Polestar 1, and lighting a bit of a bonfire under preconceptions about how effective Polestar will be as a standalone brand. But Polestar isn’t just some recent concoction by Volvo to add a performance arm to their mainstream business, but a well-established fettler of Volvo’s cars which is now owned in house.
The changes Polestar normally makes to Volvo’s road cars are as much about feel as power, and about making more usable performance more readily available.
It’s a healthy bolt-on business for Volvo and Polestar, and it really does make a difference to how the cars feel and how the perform, whether you’re looking for more mid-range grunt and responsiveness or just looking to make towing even more of a breeze.
So with Polestar Cyan Racing winning the World Touring Car Championship in a Volvo S60 Polestar, Polestar are celebrating with a special edition of both the S60 and V60 – the Polestar Performance World Champion Editions.
But as Polestar add-ons are gentle tweaks rather than mad overworkings, you can go and get this as a package of upgrades for the 60 Series at any Polestar dealer, even if you already have a Volvo which isn’t a ‘Special Edition’.
What you get is all of Polestar’s toys thrown at any of the D4, D5, T5 and T6 S60 or V60, including 19″ Polestar alloys with performance tyres, free-flow stainless steel exhaust, sports air filter, uprated dampers and springs, rear diffuser, rear spoiler and Polestar Gear Lever.
Also in the mix is Polestar Performance Optimisation which adds a few more horses and a few more torques as well as quicker shifts and better throttle response.
