The BMW X1 - BMW launches two new models

BMW are adding two new models to the X1 range – BMW X1 sDrive18i and the BMW X1 xDrive25i – and a range of new colours.

The BMW X1 is fresh out of the gates at BMW but already there are changes in store for the compact SUV. BMW are to launch two new models on the market in March 2010 – the BMW X1 sDrive18i and the BMW X1 xDrive25i.

The X1 sDrive18i is a new entry level model for the X1 and features a 150bhp 4-pot petrol which manages to row the X1 along quite commendably, managing the 0-60mph in 9.5 seconds in the manual car. It gets fully variable VALVETRONIC valve management, variable double-Vanos camshaft adjustment, and an adjustable intake system (DISA). Average fuel consumption is 34.4mpg and CO2 emissions come in at 191g/km.

The X1 xDrive25i uses a straight six petrol engine producing 218bhp which means a 0-60mph of 7.7 seconds, a top speed of 138mph and average fuel consumption of 30.4mpg. CO2 emissions come in at 217g/km. The xDrive25i gets all wheel drive and a 6 speed auto box as standard.

In other tweaks to the range the X1 xDrive18d, the BMW X1 sDrive18d, and the BMW X1 sDrive20d all get the six speed auto ‘box as an option. BMW are also extending the range of colours available on the X1 and are adding Space Grey, Cashmere Silver, Tasman, Sparkling Bronze, and Graphite Blue metallic to the list.

Seems a bit soon to be tweaking, but more choice has got to be good.
