2013 Subaru Forester: Price from £24,995

The new 2013 Subaru Forester, which debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, will cost from £24,995 in the UK for the Forester 2.0D X.

The new Subaru Forester was revealed in Japan at the start of November last year – although it got its public debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show – and although it look familiar it does get a raft of improvements.

Those improvements for 2013 include new bumpers and a bigger crease down the side, some new alloys and more toys, like a new Infotainment centre and a SatNav with reversing camera.

But the big news is that the new Forester gets a new engine option too, a new 2.0 litre turbo petrol good for 240PS which should make the Foresters ‘last forever’ appeal more enticing when you can have fun forever too.

As you would expect, the range-topping Forester 2.0i XT, sadly complete with CVT ‘box, costs a not exactly bargain basement £30,995, although the whole range starts from a more reasonable £24,995 for the cheapest diesel – the 2.0D X – and £25,495 for the cheapest petrol – the 2.0i XE.

Subaru hasn’t managed to come up with full specifications for the trim yet, but the new Subaru Forester – with the choice of the two petrol engines and one diesel with 4WD across the range – goes on sale in May.

At prices that haven’t changed much from the previous model, the new Subaru Forester is a grown-up choice and decent value as a ‘do anything’ workhorse that won’t let you down.
