The new 2014 Hyundai Genesis – Hyundai’s range-topping car – is being teased for a Detroit Auto Show debut with the first photos.
However far Hyundai has come in the UK and Europe in the last few years, they still don’t think Europe is ready for their range-topping saloon – the Hyundai Genesis.
But that could be about to change with the arrival of the 2014 Hyundai Genesis, which Hyundai has started to tease with the release of the first photos of their new car ahead of a debut at the Detroit Auto Show.
Looking like a slightly tamer version of the Hyundai HCD-14 Concept we saw at Detroit at the start of the year, the new Genesis gets Hyundai’s latest Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language which brings with it a new Audi-esque front grill (well, Hyundai/Kia’s design guru, Peter Schreyer, did come from Audi) as well as a sleeker, more elegant style.
Under the skin, at least in the US, is expected to be tweaked versions of the V6 and V8 petrol in the current Genesis, mated to an eight-speed auto ‘box, as well as the option of Hyundai’s new HTRAC all wheel drive system.
It’s a convincing effort from Hyundai to take the fight to premium cars from Germany – like the BMW 5 Series – and there seems a high probability that the new Genesis will come to the UK.
Hyundai has tested the new Genesis extensively at the Nurburgring, and reports from Hyundai in Australia confirming the new Genesis will be available, in RHD, in Australia seem to point to the new Genesis being made available in the UK too.
Let’s hope so.
