2016 Mercedes SL update teased ahead of LA Motor Show

The Mercedes SL is in for a facelift for 2016 – which will debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show this month – ahead of which we get a tease of the new SL.

As Mercedes work on delivering updated models with new family features, we get a tease photo of the front end of the 2016 facelift for the Mercedes SL, ahead of its debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show.

It’s clear Mercedes are taking the SL down the route of making it look a bit more like the comfortable version of the AMG GT, with a new mesh grill and LED headlights, new bumpers and a tweak or two for the interior.

Just like the new GLS, the 2016 SL is likely to see upgrades to the interior, with Mercedes’ new free-standing COMAND infotainment screen plonked on the top of the dash, and new materials to add an air of extra quality.

Under the skin – although there may be efficiency tweaks – things seem likely to stay much the same, with the 3.0 litre V6, 4.6 litre V8 and AMG versions with the 5.5 litre V8 and 6.0 litre V12 remaining, although the nine-speed auto ‘box for the non-AMG models is likely to be fitted.

The 2016 Mercedes SL is likely to arrive in the UK in Spring 2016.
