The Ford Focus RS is the only Ford car to escape Ford's 2.7% price rise.
Ford is raising prices across its range – both cars and commercials – from 1st December by an average of 2.7% due to the weakness of the Pound.
I suppose it’s understandable that Ford feels the need to raise prices for its cars in the UK market from 1st December by an average of 2.7%, even though it’s the fourth time this year they’ve done so. But they’re not alone. Audi is increasing UK prices from 1st December (although by just 1%) and you can bet your boots many will follow suit very soon.
The fall in the value of Sterling is the stated reason for the rise, and there’s certainly substance to the claim. Compared to a couple of years ago the value of Sterling has dropped by over 30%. Which is painful for car maker – like Ford – which no longer produces cars in the UK. They do produce some engines but not a single car. So the continued weakness of the Pound does have a big impact.
Anything from £250 extra and on upwards to £600 on the S-Max and Galaxy will be charged for all new cars across the Ford range from 1st December. Commercial vehicles are also going up in price – by £400 on the Fiesta Van, £500 for the Ranger and Connect and £600 for the Transit T1.
One slightly bright spot is that The Transit T2 escapes a price rise as does the Focus RS.
Mind you, just about every Focus RS is spoken for already.
