Land Rover has started the inevitable on-going tease for the Evoque. But it’s done it with pictures of the Evoque in disguise. Most odd.

We’re not huge fans of the red-top alliteration in headlines. And I suppose the headline is a curate’s egg alliteration – alliterative in parts. But we have to play when there’s not a lot of meat on the bones of a story.

We’ve had the semi-reveal of Land Rover’s new baby to be – the Range Rover Evoque. Which looks just like the LRX Concept from 2007 except it’s a Rangie not a Landie. But it’s good to see Land Rover having the balls to move the LRX from concept to production with very little change in how it looks.

What we don’t know is what the inside will look like. It seems we have to wait for David’s missus to come up with a few ideas before we get that far. But she’ll have to get a shake on to make it happen as the Evoque is due to go to Paris in a couple of months, all ready to Rock ‘n’ Roll with all its party clothes on show.

We were hoping that if Land Rover were going to play tease with the Evoque that they would do it in a way that wasn’t boring or irritating. Jaguar (more or less) pulled it off with the new XJ. What we didn’t expect from LR is what we’d have for the first tease is a pile of pictures of the LRX / Evoque prototype we showed you months ago. Still, I suppose we only showed you one at a time. And there’s a whole seven on show here.

We all need to promote what we do. And who can blame Land Rover for blowing their trumpet and keeping the Evoque in the public eye between now and Paris?

But come on. We’ve seen the Evoque undressed at KP. Why would we want to see pictures of it in disguise?
