It’s being reported that the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento will be produced in very limited numbers, costs €1.9 million and arrives in October 2011.

We did think that Lamborghini were going to reveal the LP700-4 at last year’s Paris Motor Show, especially after they let it be known they had a new supercar to reveal. But the new supercar wasn’t the Aventador, it was the super-light and super-bonkers Lamborghini Sesto Elemento.

Anyone who got forced to learn the periodic table at school will know the sixth element is carbon. Which will make it no surprise that the Sesto Elemento boasts carbon fibre everything and weighs little more than a whisper – 999kgs.

With that low weight, and the same 5.2 litre V10 you’ll find in the LP570-4 Superleggera, the Sesto Elemento can scuttle to 62mph in a mere 2.5 seconds and top out somewhere north of 200mph.

The problem was, for anyone drooling over the possibility of grabbing a Sesto Elemento to stick in their garage, Lamborghini were claiming this to be a concept. And it might well have started out that way. But by the time the Paris motor Show ended it was clear that Lamborghini were looking to build a limited run.

By November our sources were telling us that the Sesto Elemento had been given the green light for production by Lamborghini, and that there would be between ten and twenty made and each would cost at least €1.9 million. Not a cheap car.

And now we learn that story was bang on the button, with Auto Motor und Sport reporting that Lamborghini will build 20 cars, each will cost €1.9 million and they will be arrive in October 2011.

Time to start saving.
