The arrival of the new Mercedes S-Class in May saw MB move their range topper on properly for the first time in almost a decade, but with UK prices staring from £62,650 for the S 350 BlueTEC it wasn’t going to be on most people’s shopping list.
To be entirely fair, the new S63 is an awesome car with immense performance (which would be even more impressive if Mercedes endowed it with 4WD, as they do in other markets) with its 5.5 litre bi-turbo V8 developing 577bhp and getting the S63 to 62mph in 4.4 seconds.
Included in your £120k is AMG Sports suspension, AMG Sports Exhaust, AMG Body Syling and a range of extra goodies including Driving Assistance Package, Front Seat Comfort Package, Panoramic sunroof, Keyless Go Package, Burmester Surround Sound System and Ambient Lighting.
But don’t think spending £119,565 means there’s no more you can add to your S63.
If the basic spec isn’t good enough you can always add in stuff like Drivers Package (£2,760) which takes off the limiter, AMG Exterior Carbon Package (£5,000) which bolts on extra carbon fibre and a set of Ceramic Brakes (£7,090) to make sure you stop.
The new Mercedes S63 AMG debuts at Frankfurt next month and will arrive in the UK in November.
