New Peugeot 308 – UK price & spec revealed

The new Peugeot 308 – revealed at Frankfurt last month – will arrive in the UK in January 2014 priced from £14,495.

The last Peugeot 308 was a bit of a lost soul; never quite as good as the market leaders, never quite as cheap as the budget offerings.

But the new Peugeot 308, revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show, looks to perhaps have the measure of the Ford Focus and VW Golf and will cost from £14,495 when it hits the UK in January 2014.

The new 308 only comes as a five-door for now, at least, but you do get the option of five trim levels – Access, Active, Allure and Feline – with engine choices from the 1.2 VTI 82 with a 5-speed manual (only in Access trim – to the 2.0 BlueHDi 150 with a six-speed auto ‘box and stop start which costs £24,045.

The Access trim models are not lavishly equipped, but they do get LED running lights, AirCon, electric front windows, Cruise and remote central locking.

The more appealing Active trim adds in stuff like 16″ alloys, dual zone AirCon, rear parking sensors, electric handbrake, auto lights and wipers and a 9.7″ touchscreen with SatNav and USB inputs.

The Allure trim adds in a few more luxuries like 17″ alloys, front fogs, LED headlights, reversing camera, parking sensors and electric folding mirrors, while the range-topping Feline gets more still with 18″ alloys, Panoramic roof, Alcantara Sports seats, Dynamic Cruise and Keyless.

The new 308 will launch with a range of five petrol and HDi diesel engines and in spring 2014 will also be available with Peugeot’s new 3-cylinder 1.2 litre e-THP engine with either 110 or 130bhp.

The new Peugeot 308 is now available to order in the UK with first deliveries due in January 2014.
