Skoda revealed their Rapid Spaceback – a hatch version of the Rapid saloon – back in July, and following its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show last month it’s now heading for the UK at a price starting at £14,430.
Still, many buyers prefer a hatch and may have their boats floated by the sensibly priced Rapid SpaceBack.
The starting point for the range is £14,340 for the Rapid SpaceBack S with the 86PS 1.2 TSI engine, rising to £18,900 for the 1.6 TDI CR 90PS DSG in Elegance trim.
In between there is a choice of five engines; the 1.2 litre TSI with 104bhp, 1.4 litre TSI with 120bhp and a 1.6 litre TDI with 89bhp as well as the entry-level 85bhp 1.2 petrol and range-topping 1.6 litre TDI with 104bhp. There is a choice of manual or DSG ‘boxes dependant on engine choice.
Trim levels are S, SE and Elegance with the S models offering Aircon, front electric windows, tyre pressure monitoring and 15″ steel wheels, with the SE adding stuff like 15″ alloys, rear parking sensors, Cruise and a trip computer and Elegance throwing in 16″ alloys, cornering fogs and Climate.
Additionally, there’s a GreenTech version in each trim level which offers a ‘Greener’ option for buyers and GreenLine with emissions of 99g/km to come.
The new Skoda Rapid Spaceback is now available to order in the UK with first deliveries in January 2014.
