Volvo V60 Polestar: OFFICIAL

After teasing its arrival in the last few weeks, Volvo has revealed the new Volvo V60 Polestar and made the S60 Polestar a global model.

Volvo has been busy teasing a new Polestar model recently, and we concluded it would be a fast Volvo estate in the guise of a production Volvo V60 Polestar. And that’s exactly what it is.

This isn’t a Polestar add-on (which is already available for the T6 versions of the V60 and S60) but a stand-alone model with the same underpinnings as the S60 Polestar recently revealed for the Australian market (which now becomes a global offering).

That means a more powerful version of Volvo’s 3.0 litre six-cylinder turbo engine with 345bhp and 369lb/ft of torque, enough to get the V60 Polestar to 62mph in 4.9 seconds (and 124mph in 17.7s).

Polestar has fitted a new intercooler and a performance exhaust and the six-speed auto ‘box gets quicker changes, a launch control, new 4WD system for better torque distribution, new Ohlins shock absorbers for the tuned chassis and beefier brakes.

Cosmetically (and for better stability) Polestar has also fitted a new front splitter, rear diffuser and spoiler and the interior gets a new steering wheel and sports seats.

The Volvo V60 Polestar is heading for the UK next summer, but Volvo UK has decided the UK market has no real appetite for the S60 Polestar, so although that becomes a global model the UK won’t be offering it.

Volvo UK will update with prices and availability for the new V60 Polestar next year, but with a specced-up V60 T6 Polestar costing over £40k you can probably expect prices heading towards £50k.
