Subaru has revealed that the STI version of the new WRX will be revealed at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. But will the 2014/2015 Subaru WRX STI make it to the UK?

New Subaru WRX STI heading for 2014 Detroit Auto Show
After a concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September – which looked edgy – to a production reveal at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November – which didn’t – plans for the 2014 Subaru WRX are well on track. And now we’re getting the STI version.
What we don’t know, because Subaru isn’t saying, is what will be under the bonnet of the new WRX STI; will it be a more powerful version of the 2.0 litre turbo the new WRX is getting, or will it be a modified version of the 2.5 litre turbo flat-four from the last STI?
Whatever powers the STI, you can expect a more aggressive setup that the regular WRX, with stiffer suspension, beefier brakes and lots of go-faster body bits.
But what we also don’t know is whether the new WRX STI will make it to the UK.
Subaru has been vacillating about bringing the regular WRX to the UK, claiming the strength of the Yen made it impossible to make a profit, but the weakening Yen seems to have made the likelihood of a new WRX almost a certainty for the UK.
And if we’re to get the WRX it’s all but certain – with the UK’s predilection for the old STI – that we’ll also get the range-topping STI too.
Let’s hope so.
