Citroen DS SUV (DS X7) teased ahead of Beijing Motor Show

A single image of a Citroen DS SUV has been revealed ahead of a debut at the Beijing Motor Show. Probably a production version of the Citroen Wild Rubis Concept.

With the Beijing Motor Show looming, the teases and reveals are starting to roll out, and Citroen have chose to play the tease game with a single image of the back end of a Citroen DS SUV.

Logically, this DS SUV will be a production version of the Citroen Wild Rubis Concept we saw last year at the Shanghai Motor Show, although the tease photo does have differences from the concept.

Just like the Citroen DS 5LS R concept we saw last week – a performance version of the DS 5LS – the DS SUV looks set to be a China only model, at least for now.

Which is something of a shame, as the Wild rubis did look an appealing DS take on a compact SUV and we could see it selling in Europe, but it does seem Citroen has no plans to market it outside China.

Which means the production version is likely to get a 1.6 litre petrol turbo rather than the clever hybrid powertrain the Wild Rubis had, although if Citroen do decide to bring it to Europe in a couple of years time the hybrid setup could return.

Exactly what moniker Citroen are choosing to endow their compact SUV with hasn’t been revealed, but it does seem likely it will be the Citroen DS X7, as we reported last year.

The Citroen DS SUV – probably the Citroen DS X7 – will be revealed in Beijing on 20th April.
