The Trident Icini has finally gone on sale – it starts from £96,000 – offering up to 660bhp and more that 1,000lb/ft of torque.

We saw the Trident Icini at Salon Prive in 2012, and although it looked like it was ready to roll out as the world’s fastest diesel sports car it’s taken two year more to be ready to take orders. But now it’s gone on sale.
But if that’s not enough for you Trident offers a performance package upgrade to 430bhp and 960lb/ft of torque or a track upgrade which delivers a massive 660bhp and 1050lb/ft of torque. And even in standard spec the Icini can get to 62mph in 3.7 seconds. Despite which it has a range of up to 2000 miles and economy of 68.9mpg
As well as the performance packages there’s also a luxury pack which throws in stuff like a two-tone leather and Alcantara interior, heated mirrors and a Clarion Multimedia system, with a premium upgrade pack adding carbon fibre bits inside, electric seats and a heated windscreen.
At a starting price of £96,000 (£20k more than Trident indicated in 2012) rising to around £126k if you tick all the options, the Trident Icini offer huge performance for the money.
Even if we do have some doubts about the styling and its ability to make full use of all that torque.
