New 2015 Volvo XC90 Interior fully revealed

The interior of the all new 2015 Volvo XC90 has been revealed as Volvo run up to a full reveal in August and a debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

The Volvo XC90 is well past its sell-by date, but it’s still a credible cross between an SUV and a family mover. But the all new 2015 XC90 is getting close and today Volvo has decided to reveal their new range-topper from the inside out with a full reveal of the XC90’s interior.

With the current XC90’s interior architecture more than a decade old, it’s a good place to start; Volvo has created an interior for the new model that’s a world away from the current model.

The first thing that strikes you is a complete lack of buttons, with all the major functions moved to a new central touchscreen infotainment centre.

That central information centre is supplemented by a heads-up display, voice control and steering wheel buttons so the driver remains fully focused on the road ahead.

Thomas Ingenlath, Senior VP Volvo, said:

The most striking feature is a tablet-like touch screen control console, which forms the heart of an all-new in-car control system.

This system is virtually button free and represents an entirely new way for drivers to control their car and access a range of Internet-based products and services.

The interior takes Volvo to a new level, with soft leather and wood with lots of nice touches like a gear lever made of crystal glass from Orrefors and diamond-cut controls for the stop-start button and volume control. Volvo call them the ‘Jewels’ of the interior.

The 7-seat interior will offer more space than before thanks to the new SPA underpinnings, with the easiest acces in its class for the rearmost passengers and plenty of home comforts for all.

The new Volvo XC90 will be fully revealed in August and get its public debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October.
