It’s a game of two halves for Honda today; on the one hand, they’ve opened the order book for the all new Civic Type R, and on the other they’ve closed the order book for the all new Honda NSX.
Designed and engineered for European drivers, the new Type R will be built in Swindon and arrive in Honda’s UK dealers next year and receive plenty of technology – including an ‘R’ button to dial everything up to the extreme – a purposeful bodykit and a 2.0 litre i-VTEC engine expected to deliver at least 278bhp, enough for a sub-6 second sprint to 62mph.
As the Type R order book opens, the order book for the new Honda NSX has closed, at least for the time being.
Honda has already received over 100 orders for the new NSX – despite details of its powertrain and final design not yet fully revealed – and the 100 plus orders they already have is likely to be at least a year’s allocation for the UK.
