Supercar sales at Christmas higher than 64 plate sales

A leading high-end finance company has revealed that buyers of supercars are spending more on their purchases at Christmas than they did for the 64 plate.

In the world of supercars the normal rules don’t apply, not even, it seems, the normal pattern that the biggest number of sales come with the new registration plates in March and September.

Magnitude Finance – a much favoured finance provider for high-end cars – is reporting that their clients actually shelled out for more supercars as Christmas gifts (although, no doubt, many were gifts to themselves) than they did when the new 64 plate arrived in September.

The most popular car for Christmas was the Porsche 911, but many canny buyers opted for a cut-price deal on the old McLaren 12C as well as its replacement, the McLaren 650S.

Aside from the penchant for Porsche and McLaren, clients also wrapped up Lamborghinis – Huracan and Aventador – as well as the perennial favourite of the well-heeled – the Range Rover.

Tim Marlow, Magnitude’s main man, said:

Many of our customers are treating their loved ones to some really special Christmas presents. Others are rewarding themselves for a successful year in business and taking advantage of the historically low interest rates.

Christmas is now one of the busiest periods of the year for those buying supercars and prestige vehicles.

It certainly beats a tangerine at the bottom of your Christmas stocking.
