A new VW Golf model – the Volkswagen Golf R-Line – goes on sale in the UK, sitting above the Golf GT and with diesel or petrol engine and cosmetic tweaks.

2015 Volkswagen Golf R-Line on sale
The chances of coming out of a VW showroom with the Golf you went in to buy are pretty slim, such is the plethora of model choices. And now it gets even more unlikely with the arrival of yet another model – the Volkswagen Golf R-Line.
That means you get the Golf GT stuff like Nav, lowered Sports Suspension and pre-crash, but you also get an R-Line rear spoiler, side skirts, air intakes, grill, bumpers and diffuser plus a set of 17″ Singapore alloys.
Inside gets a bit of an R-Lime makeover too with stainless steel pedals, black lead grey trims, Sports Race seats up front complete with R-Line logo and leather gear knob, gaiter and steering wheel.
Engine options are either the 1.4 litre TSI petrol with 150 PS and either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearbox, good for 60mpg and 0-62mpg in 8.2 seconds, or a 2.0 litre TDI diesel with 150PS and 69mpg but with a six-speed manual or six-speed DSG.
The VW Golf R-Line is now on sale in VW’s UK showrooms, with prices from £24,190 for the 1.4 litre TSI manual rising to £26,765 for the 2.0 litre TDI DSG, prices that are a £995 premium over the Golf GT.
