New 2016 Jaguar XF (partially) revealed – full reveal on 24 March 2015

The 2016 Jaguar XF is partially revealed today with a birds-eye view and an interior photo, ahead of a showcase reveal on 24 March before a debut in New York.

The Jaguar talk of late has been all about the new XE and the first Jaguar Crossover – the new F-Pace. But now we have the all-new 2016 Jaguar XF too.

Jaguar has revealed the first interior photo of the all-new XF and a single birds-eye view too, teasing a proper reveal for the 24 March when the new XE will be driven across a pair of high wires over water by stuntman Jim Dowdell to demonstrate its lightness. Let’s hope he makes the right sort of splash.

That lightness – certainly compared to the current XF – is down to its aluminium construction, resulting in better dynamics, improved economy and weight that’s expected to be at least 100kg down on the current XF.

It’s frugality will be helped – certainly in the mainstream models – by the use of Jaguar’s new 2.0 litre Ingenium engines, with the promise of 70mpg and more for the more frugal versions.

Jaguar’s birds-eye view of the new XF isn’t terribly revealing, but we can see it bears a strong resemblance to the new XE, with a swooping roofline, sculptured bonnet, purposeful haunches and, it would seem, shorter overhangs.

The interior view is more revealing, showing a cabin that looks a few notches up from the current XF’s in terms of quality and style, featuring a continuous cabin hoop round the top of the dash and in to the doors – something we first saw on the XJ – new steering wheel, bigger infotainment, wide centre console and big instrument dials.

The new Jaguar XE will get its public debut at the New York Motor Show next month – after its stunt reveal next week – and go in to production in the autumn.
