BMW has revised the 6 Series for 2015 with higher quality interiors and small cosmetic tweaks, and we have prices and specs for the complete range – Gran Coupe, Coupe, Convertible and M6 variants.
It’s six months since BMW revealed a series of updates – and minor cosmetic tweaks – for the 6 Series range, and the updated 2015 6 Series is now hitting the UK with prices from £59, 430 for the 640i Coupe rising to £97,300 for the M6 Convertible. As we reported in December last year, the changes to the 6 Series range – Coupe, GranC oupe and Convertible – are minor, but that’s because -a s BMW say – the 6 Series offers such a winning combination that the “… design team have only had to make subtle revisions to the three models in the range for a greater all round package”.
Those subtle revisions include slight tweaks for the bumpers, grill, lights and alloys and a lift in quality for the interior to make it look, and feel, like a range-topping BMW should.
Engine choices remain the same as before – albeit with Euro6 compliant engines – but with small improvements in both economy and performance thanks to the Euro6 tweaks.
That means the 640d’s 3.0 litre in-line six diesel now delivers 309bhp, 464lb/ft of torque and 54.3mpg, the 640i’s petrol in-line six manages 316bhp, 332lb/ft of torque and 37.2mpg, the 650i’s 4.4 litre V8 gets 444bhp, 479lb/ft of torque and 32.1mpg and the M6’s 4.4 litre Turbo V8 has 552bhp and 501lb/ft of torque (and does 28.5mpg) and you can opt for the M6 Competition Package that adds an extra 15bhp.
All the new 6 Series range come with an eight-speed torque converter auto ‘box (and very good it is), but the M6 gets a seven speed dual clutch ‘box instead.
Trim levels across the range stay the same – SE, Sport and M Sport (plus and M6 version of the Coupe, Gran Coupe and Convertible), with the Coupe and Gran Coupe costing the same (which makes the Gran Coupe a great bargain) and the convertible adding up to £6k to the price. Oh, that’s unless you want the M6, and then the Gran Coupe is £2.4k more.
One interesting fact BMW revealed is that it’s the 6 Series Gran Coupe that’s the big success in the UK, with almost 50 per cent of buyers opting for the four-door 6 Series.
