[nggallery id=2128 template=customlinks]
Details on the new MINI Clubman – including prices and specifications, have been revealed. Prices start at £19,995 for the Clubman Cooper.
Earlier today, the first official photos of the new MINI Clubman arrived a bit early – thanks to an online leak – which has no doubt promoted MINI to reveal full details this afternoon. The new MINI Clubman – the third new MINI; the practical estate version – is longer and wider than before – in fact it’s currently the biggest MINI, Countryman included – has a practical four doors for passengers and a pair of barn doors at the back for ‘stuff’.
It’s a design that’s clearly MINI – and still references the original Clubman with its twin back doors – but takes the MINI Hatch in a slightly new direction with a new nose and a design that has given us the first proper MINI estate, even if the proportions are a bit jarring.
Inside, the new dash wraps in to the doors, there’s new controls – although the MINI central dial remains – and seemingly endless variation of trim. It also seems a more upmarket place to be; MINI has managed to retain just enough quirkiness, but injected practicality and luxury too.
Engine options – at least for now – are the 134bhp 1.5 litre three-cylinder in the Cooper Clubman (costs from £19,995), the 148bhp 2.0 litre diesel in the Cooper D Clubman (costs from £22,265), and the 4-cylinder 2.0 litre petrol with 189bhp in the Cooper S Clubman (costs from £22,755).
Order books for the new MINI Clubman open this week at MINI’s UK dealers with first customer cars expected in the autumn.
