Mitsubishi ASX gets a tweak and a new 1.6 litre diesel engine for 2015
The Mitsubishi ASX Crossover has been given a minor cosmetic update for 2015, a new model range and a new 1.6 litre Euro6 diesel engine option.
It’s five years since the competent Mitsubishi ASX compact crossover arrived in the UK, so it’s due for a tweak or three to keep it fresh and appealing, hence Mitsubishi’s minor cosmetic makeover, range tweak and engine updates for the 2015 ASX.Perhaps the most significant change is the arrival of a new 1.6 litre Euro6 diesel engine for the ASX, which manages to churn out 112bhp, and emissions of 119g/km make it VED free for the first year.
The other engine options for the ASX are familiar, with the 115bhp 1.6 litre petrol and the ubiquitous 2.2 litre diesel from the Outlander, with the 1.6 litre petrol getting a five-speed manual gearbox, the 1.6 litre diesel (whether you have 2WD or 4WD) a six-speed manual and the 2.2 litre diesel coming with a six-speed auto with flappy paddles.
Exterior tweaks see two-tone 18″ alloys and more aggressive wheel arches on all but the entry-level ASX, with more tweaks on the inside including a new steering wheel and more refinements.
The ASX range gets tweaked too, with a choice of ASX ZC, ASX ZC-M, and ASX ZC-H (none of which exactly trip off the tongue), with the entry-level ZC (from £15,249) coming with Air Con, ASC and Traction Control, Keyless, alloys, front fogs, bits of chrome and privacy glass.
The mid-range ASX ZC-M (from £17,499) adds in stuff like two-tone 18″ alloys, Climate, push-button start, parking sensors, Cruise, auto lights and wipers and Xenon HD headlights with LED running lights and the range-topping ASX ZC-H (from £23,499) throws more toys at the game with Leather, 4WD, auto gearbox, panoramic glass roof, LED mood lighting, Mitsubishi Multi-Media, 7″ touchscreen, Sat Nav, DAB and reversing camera.
The 2015 Mitsubishi ASX is now on sale at Mitsubishi’s UK dealers.
