Morgan AR Plus 4 gets Cosworth power and celebrates 65 years of the Plus 4

The Morgan AR Plus 4 has been revealed as a limited run – just 50 cars –  celebrate 65 years of the Plus 4, complete with big spec and Cosworth power.

The Morgan Plus 4 has been with us for 65 years, and doesn’t look like it’s changed much in that time. To celebrate the anniversary, Morgan is producing the AR Plus 4 – with a run of just 50 cars – as probably the ultimate iteration of the Plus 4.

Fettled by Morgan’s motorsport division (if it’s big enough to call it a division), the AR Plus 4 comes with a 2.0 litre Cosworth engine that churns out 225bhp which, in terms of modern power outputs might not seem much, but as the Plus 4 weighs about the same as a Dinky toy, it’s enough, and makes the AR the most powerful Plus 4 to date.

Morgan has also played with the drivetrain to make sure it can handle the power, with new adjustable dampers, new brakes and revised chassis. There’s also 16″ matt black alloys, aluminium floor and even a black Union Jack badge.

The interior of the AR Plus 4 gets all Morgan’s toys thrown at it – as well as a redesigned dashboard – but still uses Morgan’s traditional materials like Ash and Leather.

At £54,995, the Morgan AR Plus 4 isn’t exactly bargain basement (it’s £16k more than the entry-level Plus 4), but if you want one you’d better hurry as Morgan reckon they’re selling fast.
