The Land Rover Defender has been out on the streets of London in many guises as JLR celebrates 67 years of production of the iconic Defender / Series.
There have been more headlines for the Land Rover Defender in this, its last year in production, than probably ever before. And there are more today as Land Rover hits London with an eclectic display of Land Rovers from the past 67 years to mark the upcoming auction of the Defender 2,000,000 and the imminent end of 67 years of production.
Amongst the Series and Defender cars were a mix of the trusty, wacky and odd cars, including a Defender ‘Taxi’ wandering the streets of London, a Series II ice cream van, a suited and booted ‘Paul Smith’ Defender and the first ever Series I car first shown at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1948.
The ‘Land Rover fever Hits London’ video (below) also features pointers to all things Defender, with lots of LR green popping up, references to Land Rover’s ‘Best 4x4xFar’ slogan, a London bus heading for Solihull and road signs pointing the same way too.
But the whole exercise isn’t just about the celebration and the video, but part of the Defender Exhibition at Bonhams which culminates in the auction of the Land Rover Defender 2,000,000 next week.
