Vauxhall GT Concept tease
The Vauxhall GT Concept – the Opel GT Concept too – is teased on video as GM try to get a buzz going ahead of a Geneva Motor Show debut.
The Detroit Motor Show may only just be clearing up, but Vauxhall are planning well ahead with a new tease for a new concept at the Geneva Motor Show in March – the Vauxhall GT Concept. In truth, it will probably land on the floor in Geneva as the Opel GT Concept, but exactly what GM’s European twins are teasing we’re not entirely sure.
All we really have is what you can see in the video (below) with Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann – Opel CEO – and the photo (above) of the back end of the GT Concept showing.
Vauxhall do say that the retro looking exhaust you can see in the picture has been a feature of previous concepts – like the 1966 XVR and the Opel GT of 1965 – but that the design of the new Vauxhall GT is in no way retro. Helpful.
Perhaps the best guess we have is that the GT Concept will be an updated take on the Monza Concept from 2013, a decent looking concept car that looked bigger than it was (it was about the length of an A4 Avant), had an elongated coupe shape and a pair of scissor doors allowing access in to the front and back.
Perhaps the GT will be a more sensible two-seat take on the Monza – with doors that would work in the real world – and previewing an actual production car?
Or perhaps not.
