The Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition (pictured) as a diesel or hybrid Cayenne
The Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition spec arrives in the UK for the Cayenne Diesel and S E-Hybrid adding cosmetic tweaks. Costs from £55,134.
The headline-grabbing Porsche Cayenne is the Turbo S (or perhaps the S Diesel), but the models that sell are the regular diesel (for its economy) and the S E-Hybrid (for its more appealing BIK rates). To add more appeal to the Cayenne Diesel and Hybrid, Porsche has launched a new model spec – the Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition – which adds extra toys and gloss to the Cayenne, and manages to extract a bit more money out of buyers in the process.
Porsche has fitted the Platinum Edition Cayennes with a set of impressive 20″ RS Spyder alloys inside bigger wheel arches, stainless steel illuminated ‘Platinum Edition’ sill plates, privacy glass and standard black or white non-metallic paint (although you can cough up for Deep Black, Purpurite, Mahogany, Carrara White or Rhodium Silver metallic paint instead).
Inside, the Platinum Edition models get auto-dimming mirrors, leather electric sports seats, Alcantara trim, Porsche crest on the headrests, the latest PCM, BOSE, heated seats and stationary HVAC for the Hybrid.
Under the skin nothing changes, so the Cayenne Diesel gets the 258bhp 3.0 litre V6 offering official economy of 42.8mpg and 173g/km, and the S E-Hybrid with its combined 410bhp from a 3.0 litre V6 and electric motor offering official economy and emissions of 85.6mpg and 75g/km (the usual barking numbers).
The Porsche Cayenne Platinum Editions are now on sale at Porsche’s UK dealers, with the diesel costing from £55,134 and the Hybrid from £66,919.
