New Toyota Aygo x-cite
The Toyota Aygo x-cite has arrived as perhaps the boldest take on Toyota’s City Car, with a bright yellow paint job and cosmetic titivations.
It’s a couple of years since the Toyota Aygo arrived as Toyota’s take on the Citroen C1/Peugeot 108 City Car, and if we had to pick one of the three to run around the urban landscape the Aygo is probably the one to go for.It looks funky, has an appealing little 1.0 litre 3-cylinder engine for zippy performance (well, on congested urban roads), is well bolted together and offers lots of individual customisation options.
Last year we got the Aygo x-wave with a full length canvas roof for a bit of fresh air in the city, and now we’re getting another ‘special’ Aygo – the Aygo x-cite – which adds a dash of summer colour to the Aygo and turns it in to a car that thinks it’s a wasp.
Toyota are calling the x-cite the most extrovert Aygo you can buy, and they’ve given it a new Yellow Fizz paint job with the front ‘X’, front pillar extensions, mirrors and back bumper insert all finished in black, privacy glass and a set of 15″ gloss black alloys too.
Inside, there’s a Yellow Fizz finish on the seat bolsters, inserts on the door panels, air vent surrounds, gear knob and carpet edging, with black inserts on the centre console, instrument panel and gear lever surround.
Equipment is decent too, with a 7″ touchscreen Infotainment with DAB, MirrorLink and reversing camera, as well as Bluetooth, Air Con, leather steering wheel and gear knob and projector headlights with LED tracers.
Under the skin it’s the 1.0 litre VVT-i petrol with five-speed manual gearbox or an auto option, and sub-98g/km emissions for both.
The Toyota Aygo x-cite will go on sale at Toyota’s UK dealers in July, by which time the bean counters will have come up with a price.
