Sergio Marchionne – the new Ferrari CEO – has confirmed that Ferrari are building the open-top LaFerrari Spider. Could debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
Sergio Marchionne has only just been appointed as Ferrari’s new CEO, but as is his wont he’s been busy revealing what’s planned at Ferrari, and there’s a LaFerrari Spider on the way.The idea of a convertible LaFerrari has been mooted ever since LaFerrari was first revealed, and there have been rumours that Ferrari has already shown the car to its faithful high rolling clients, but now the LaFerrari Spider is official and we can probably expect it very soon.
In fact, a debut at the Paris Motor Show in September seems likely, although it’s possible it might not happen until Geneva in 2017, which would tie in nicely with Ferrari’s 70th anniversary year.
The Spider would effectively be the third iteration of LaFerrari, joining the original Coupe and the track-only FXX K, and will no doubt come with the same 789bhp V12 and 161bhp electric motor for a total output of 950bhp, and the carbon fibre tub should keep the Spider stiff too – even with the roof chopped off.
We’ve no idea how many Spiders Ferrari will build, although it’s probably going to be fewer than the 499 Coupes, and the price is going to be somewhere seriously the wrong side of £1 million.
And in truth, despite this being the first confirmation of LaFerrari Spider, it’s highly likely they’re all sold.
Now, what are the chances of a McLaren P1 Spider?
