The BMW M3 first arrived in 1986, and BMW are celebrating with a special edition based on then M3 Competition Package – the BMW M3 30 Jahre.
The BMW M5 may have been the BMW M that’s grabbed most of the headlines since it arrived in 1984, but it’s the BMW M3 that really cemented BMW’s M cars in the hearts of buyers. That first M3 arrived back in 1986, and each of the five generations of the 3-Series have spawned their own M3 version, and with the M3 celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2016 BMW are doing what any car maker would do – launching s special edition model to celebrate.
Just as BMW did with the M5 30 Jahre in 2014, they’ve taken the Competition Package for the M3, given it a bit of a titivation and created this, the BMW M3 30 Jahre.
Just 30 examples of the car are being made available for the UK, each costing £82,675, and they come with the same 444bhp as the Competition Package M3, which means 0-62mph in 4.0 seconds, Adaptive M suspension with new springs, dampers and stabilisers and modified modes for the COMFORT, SPORT and SPORT+, Active M Diff and DSC.
Visual tweaks include a Frozen Silver paint job, 30 Jahre M3 logos inside and out, carbon fibre rear diffuser, spoiler and mirrors, Alcantara steering wheel and blue Merino leather.
The BMW M3 30 Jahre Edition goes on sale at BMW’s UK dealers this summer, and even at £82,675 it’s likely to sell in quick sticks.
