The Volkswagen Polo Match Edition is a special edition Polo with extra connectivity and looks to be the run-out model for the 6th generation Polo.
Costing from £13,315, the Polo Match Edition comes with Car-Net App-Connect for smartphone integration including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink (depending on your phone).
App-Connect’s functionality adds to the native stuff allowing selected Apps – like Spotify and Skype – to be operated from the Polo’s touchscreen, and if you have an Android phone then voice control works too. There are also VW Apps for MirrorLink.
As well as the tech stuff, the Match Edition comes with electrically heated door mirrors, auto dimming rear view mirror, auto wipers, headlight delay, rear parking sensors, Cruise, Air Con and 15″ alloys.
Engine options for the Polo Match Edition are the 1.0 litre with 59bhp or 73bhp, the 1.2 litre TSI with 89bhp and a choice of manual or DSG gearbox, and the 1.4 litre TDI with 74bhp.
Although we’re sure VW dealers will be happy to take your order for the Polo Match Edition today, it officially goes on sale in the UK on 21 December.

Question for you. Why do you call this the 6th generation Polo when there have only been four versions prior to this one?

Strictly speaking you are right, and VW do consider the current Polo the fifth generation. But many consider the 1990 facelift as the Mk 3 Polo, which would make the current version the sixth.
