The 2018 Ford Mustang & Mustang Convertible (pictured) get a facelift – but the UK won’t get it until 2018
The Ford Mustang and Mustang Convertible get a bit of a facelift, more power for the V8 and more premium interior. Not on sale in the UK until 2018.
It’s only about five minutes since the Ford Mustang arrived in the UK, but it’s actually more than three years since it arrived across the Pond. So it’s time to give the Mustang – and Mustang Convertible – a bit of a facelift. The cosmetic tweaks for the 2018 Mustang aren’t extensive, but they are enough to make it stand out from the current ‘Stang.
There are minor tweaks for the bumpers, grille and bonnet, LED headlights all round and a tweak for the look of the LED tail lights.
At the back, in addition to the tweaked bumper, there’s a new spoiler, and Ford are offering some new alloy options and a couple of new colour options.
It seems the interior of the 2018 Mustang is going to be a bit more premium and offer a new look for the seats and some new trim options in addition to aluminium details as well as a digital dashboard option.
Under the skin, there are improvements to boast, with the (you don’t want that one) 2.3 litre EcoBoost getting a bit more torque, and the 5.0 litre V8 (you do want that) a torque and power boost. But Ford don’t want to say what the boost amounts to.
Both engines can be had with a six-speed manual or a new 10-speed auto, which promises to help with economy a bit, improve shift times.
It all sounds like a very sensible, mid-life facelift for the Mustang, but you won’t be able to get one in the UK for a year. Yes, it’ll be early 2018 before the facelifted Mustang arrives in the UK.
