New Ford Fiesta starts to arrive at UK dealers
The new 2017 Ford Fiesta is now arriving in Ford’s UK dealers, which should see the Fiesta reclaim its crown as the UK’ best-selling car.
Remarkably, after an almost unbroken run as the UK’s best-selling car for donkey’s years, the Ford Fiesta lost its sales crown in June to the VW Golf. But that’s doubtless down to the new Fiesta‘s imminent arrival – with Fiesta registrations in June still holding up well as dealers got rid of stock of the old model – but business should return to normal this month as the new Fiesta arrives in dealers.
The very first new Fiesta has now arrived at a Ford dealer in Birmingham – where Ford sell more Fiestas than anywhere else in the country – resplendent in Titanium trim with B&O Sound and the very good 1.0 litre EcoBoost 100PS engine.
Ford are calling the new Fiesta the “most technologically advanced small car on sale“, and it’s moved the Fiesta on by quite a chunk – in part to leave wriggle room for the new KA+ beneath it – and looks to be a cracking little car.
The Fiestas arriving at Ford’s UK dealers this month are Titanium and Zetec trim models, but if you want the posh £20k Fiesta Vignale or ST-Line you’re going to have to wait until autumn 2017, and for the butch Fiesta Active and Fiesta ST until spring 2018.
But even without the range-topping ST, Active and Vignale, Ford’s UK MD, Andy Barratt, still reckons the new Fiesta will put Ford back on top. He said:
This year the eyes of the car world in our market are on new Fiesta as it takes over the reign as top seller. Having seen all Fiesta models coming over the next nine months, I’m confident it will remain on top.
He’s unlikely to be wrong.
