The first new Hyundai Kona small SUV is the prize in Hyundai’s ‘Find your Rhythm’ Competition as Hyundai sponsors the Mercury Prize once more.
Hyundai has been getting down with the kids recently as it strives to appeal to a younger demographic. And what better way to do that than with its Sponsorship of the Mercury Music prize and a social media competition to win the first new Kona SUV in the UK?
This is the second year of Hyundai’s sponsorship of what is officially the Hyundai Mercury Prize, an annual event to recognise the most innovative UK and Irish musicians across a range of genres, to deliver 12 ‘Albums of the Year’.
On the back of the Mercury deal, Hyundai has launched a social media competition – ‘Find Your Rhythm’ – to win the first new Hyundai Kona in the UK, focussing on the interior of the Kona creating a space where innovation happens.
To enter, all you’ll have to do is tweet #HyundaiMercuryPrize or comment on any post relating to that hashtag that’s posted on Hyundai’s Facebook or Instagram.
There’s also a tie-in with Boiler Room – the home of underground and new music, in case you were wondering – for exclusive performance films and content from the Mercury short-listed artists, where you can also enter using the same hashtag.
Another cute little angle is that the cars Hyundai supply to ferry the artists to and from the Hammersmith Apollo will feature a Shazam code on the side which, when scanned on you phone, will deliver an augmented reality experience featuring a specific artist and a link to their nominated album.
David Pugh, Hyundai’s UK Marketing Director, said:
Our Hyundai Mercury Prize partnership exists because we genuinely feel that the Prize’s values, in celebrating and promoting innovation and excellence in music, reflect those of our own brand. We don’t just want our name associated with the Prize, though: it’s important that we add something for music fans.
With Boiler Room and Shazam, we’re really shining a light on some of the incredible artists in the shortlist this year, celebrating talent of which everyone in the UK should be rightly proud.
And if all this sounds like gobbledygook, don’t worry – you’re just not Hyundai’s target audience.

Zap the Shazam code on the side of Hyundai’s Mercury Prize cars for a little treat
