Aston Martin DB11 the only BRITISH Golden Steering Wheel Award winner in 2017
The Aston Martin DB11 has been voted the Most Beautiful Car in the World at the prestigious Golden Steering Wheel Awards, the only British winner.
If you want a good example of how European tastes in cars vary from those in the UK, this year’s Golden Steering Wheel Awards does it in spades. The awards are granted by Germany’s Auto Bild, with winners declared after a Europe-wide poll of readers and experts. But you would be forgiven for thinking the only votes came from Germany.
Of the winners, just one – the Aston Martin DB11 – is not a German car, with VW Group having almost a monopoly of winners.
The best Sports Car Award went to the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo, the best Large SUV went to the Audi Q5, the best Compact SUV went to the Skoda Karoq and the best mid and large size award went to the VW Arteon. But the Opel Ampera E did break that VW monopoly with the award for Best Small Car.
But despite the German dominance, the voters showed some taste by declaring the Aston Martin DB11 the most beautiful car of 2017.
Andy Palmer, AML’s CEO, said:
We aspire to make the most beautiful cars in the world and are incredibly proud of the Aston Martin DB11, a car that spearheads our Second Century plan.
Exceptional design runs through the bloodline of the DB models and every part of the DB11 is crafted to create the most beautiful DB to date.
To receive the award for ‘Most Beautiful Car’ is testament to the skill and dedication of the designers and employees of Aston Martin who work tirelessly to combine exceptional design with the latest technology.
Aston Martin – flying the flag for Britain.
