Nissan LEAF E-Plus on the way with 215bhp and 300 mile range
The new Nissan LEAF will offer an E-Plus version later in 2018, with a battery pack increased to 64kWh, 215bhp electric motor and 300-mile range.
The new Nissan LEAF has only recently been revealed – and the new LEAF UK prices and specs only announced last week – but there’s more to come later in the year from the LEAF.With a new, more mainstream, look and big improvement in power, performance and range, the new LEAF is a big step forward for Nissan as it fights to maintain the huge EV dominance its early entry in to the market has delivered.
But it’s arguable that the new LEAF should have gone further as new entrants arrive to challenge its dominance, with more power and greater range. But it looks like Nissan has that covered.
It seems that the Nissan LEAF E-Plus, when it arrives at the end of 2018, will push the LEAF right to the top of its sector in terms of power, performance and range, according to PushEVs.
Not only will the LEAF E-Plus get a new 64kWh battery pack – with thermal management – but will come with a 215bhp electric motor good for 0-62mph in around 6.5 seconds. It will also come with an 11-22kW onboard charger and DC charging of 100kW too.
Prices for the nw LEAF E-Plus are expected to start at under £30k, which will give the LEAF a way of competing not just in the family car sector, but potentially persuade buyers to look at the new LEAF instead of entry-level ‘Premium’ EVs.
And make the new LEAF a completely practical alternative to an ICE car.
